Glen Eden Intermediate School (GEIS) is a large Intermediate School catering for the emerging adolescent student.
GEIS is recognised as a leading Intermediate School in New Zealand, with a strong focus on fostering a love of learning, hence our vision “to be a dream school where everybody loves to learn”. We strive to create a valued learning community of students, staff and parents who can nurture positive relationships. GEIS promotes excellence by encouraging students to set goals, become independent learners and develop an awareness of how they learn best.
GEIS students regularly gain honours, both nationally and internationally, in many academic, cultural and sporting areas. Our modern facilities reflect a learning environment which help reinforce the variety of quality programmes we offer. Included in these facilities is a state of the art Technology Building which has a video production studio, that broadcasts a daily television show to every classroom. In conjunction with our video conferencing suite this highlights the importance we place on ensuring our students are literate communicators in this rapidly changing technological world.
Our international links with sister schools in China, Japan and South Korea reinforce for our students, the concept of globalisation in the 21st century.
We also aim to promote the values of respect, responsibility and cooperation. We applaud such values and expect students to follow these as they participate in all areas of school life.
Staff welcome parental involvement at our school and appreciate support with events such as outdoor education and coaching.
